Welcome to Holy Cow Headquarters

Holy Cow Headquarters is just north of the new Twins stadium downtown.  We couldn’t be happier to all be in one great space to stretch out.  The space is home to all Holy Cow’ers here in Minneapolis.  We are excited about the products we are creating here and can’t wait for them to hit market.  Our mission of creating the best clothing on Earth keeps us stretching towards new methods and keeps us in search of new partners, vendors and friends that are making smart choices.  If you are one of those environmentally thoughtful trailblazers and you are in Minneapolis for some time, please stop by Holy Cow Headquarters and say hello.

Holy Cow Company Partners with Studio 503 and Zold for Distribution of Traceable Organic Clothing For Kids

Minneapolis, MN, November 15, 2009 — Holy Cow Company is proud to announce the release of its Spring 2010 Kids healthy clothing line on an international level with the help of Studio 503 and Canadian Eco-Sales Agency, Zold – 3 companies that have a similar mission in mind.

The Holy Cow Spring kids line features animal characters such as  “Jerry the Giraffe” and “Amy the Elephant” both rich in color and pesticide free. They will appear internationally in stores starting April 2010.  Each piece features its own unique 9-digit tracking code that allows customers to trace the product back to the roots of which it was grown.  The trendy new kids line is 100% organic cotton, has water-based dyes implemented into each design – making each garment healthier than any other organic clothing line.

“We are on a mission to create clothing that is healthy for families and for the planet. With the help of great sales agencies like 503 and Zold, there is no limit to the reach of this clothing – it’s organic clothing for the mainstream public,” said Holy Cow Owner and CEO, Justin Barrett.

Minneapolis based Studio 503, has a great history of helping companies such as Target, Wal-Mart, Office Depot, and Whitelines manage every aspect of bringing a unique product to market, from production to point of sale.  “Our job is to bring a socially responsible company like Holy Cow to a level that is effective enough to meet the needs of the most demanding retail players,” said Michael Walters, founder and President of Studio 503.  “The goal is a worldwide spread of organic clothing to a new, environmentally conscious, educated consumer.”
Canadian Eco-Sales Agency, Zold’s primary goal is to help Holy Cow build their organic business.  “We believe that educating our retailers and consumers is the key to getting safer, greener products into the mainstream of Canadian retail, said Rob Siegmund. “Holy Cow’s idea of traceable clothing fits perfectly with our mission to help eco-minded companies succeed.”

Labels for Healthy Clothing

Holy Cow tracking label

Over at Holy Cow Headquarters we are working on labeling of our garments.  What’s kind of cool is that every garment we make comes with a tracking code that allows our great customers to track the product all the way through the value chain.  This is important because we have made big efforts to make our production chain healthier for people and healthier for the planet.  The goal of Holy Cow tracking labels is to show the consumer why they should care.  What does organic cotton clothing really mean?  What is the difference between an organic cotton kids t-shirt and a conventionally grown cotton shirt?  Our environmental and social standard aims to produce a product with minimal impact on the planet.  Working with Whole Foods we will be promoting the message of healthy clothing. We have several new initiatives in the works so stay tuned.

Central to our mission at Holy Cow is a commitment to transparency.

This is one of the reasons we developed Holy Cow Product Tracking.  Using a unique 9-digit tracking code, Holy Cow customers trace their product’s fabric to the farm field where the cotton was grown.  Clicking on any of the steps of production reveals even more information about how the item was created.  This is one of tools we use to share with you the Holy Cow creation story.  What’s next?  On Earth Day, April 22, we will take off for India to visit organic farmers in central and southern parts of the country.  We will be creating short documentary films covering these farmers and their practices to promote the benefits of sustainable clothing and health benefits to our friends around the world.  More to come on this so stay tuned.

Holy Cow Goes with the Wind

I’m writing today to share a commitment our company has made and hopefully to encourage you to take the step as well.  This year Holy Cow is offsetting all electricity used by our offices in Minnesota and Missouri with renewable energy credits from Renewable Choice Energy.   The 6,000 kWh of  wind energy credits purchased by Holy Cow is saving more than 8,000 lbs CO2 annually.

You can take the same action.  Offset your home or encourage your business to offset their office space.

Wind energy offset by Holy Cow is coming from two local sources in Minnesota: Prairie Star Wind and Trimont Farm Wind.  We will be visiting these farms this year and sharing their story so stay tuned.
